frantic thinking!

so i had this idea to line up canvases in a V sort of shape...like two on top one underneath..and what i wanted to do was paint them all black and stab the shit out of them with a knife covered in white paint.because i was trying to make painting showing frantic thinking,ie. messy head space...i didnt want to make the paint even or pretty...so i blobed it straight onto the canvas from the bottle...witch left a rele interesting blob, and im one for splatter paints,so i just left it like it was....likewize with the second canvas,i rubbed the paint straight from the bottle, using the tub as ameans of making a mark, again,an acident, but left it. for the third canvas i went with the origional idea of painting it the whole thing black, well almost the whole thing,i keept the edges rough and half painted to almost put a border around the black...then stabed the crap out of it with a knife i dipped in white paint.
im gona line them up how i had origionaly paned, and it looks way better then it would have had i not tryed out the first two ways. acident or not, they look great.

another way of making frantice thing was wraping cardbord in tinfoil (the reason i think of frantic thinking is because tinfoil is noisey and anoying and crumply etc) then painting it black, throwing white paint on it,cutting holes, adding the top of an orange juice carton...and what im going to do is line the tree of them above the canvases,i know its almost like im making fineshed peices...but the work im doin at the moment is more like 3d sketched...id much rated make these fucker HUGE!

differance a view point can make

i was thinking of view points and what i could do while i was walkin home, and i saw st johns catedral, and i have a bit of a facination with that spire, ive photographed it a million times, only thing i dont get sick of photographing..and i tought to myself,i taken pictures of the cathedral from pretty much everywhere you can see it from...but ive never taken a picture of anything,FROM the spire...im going to go and ask if i can take a few pictures from the top..hopefully they let me

lost in mirrors

after abandoining ship on the pipe parascope,i was sort of lost...mirror fragments all around me and no ideas..so i sat and made myself think of a way to merge mirrors with my idea of makeing the viewer look at certain places...
so whats the one thing people dont want a distorted view of? answer. themselfs...so thats exacctly what i decided to do...i cut loads of holes out of a board and put mirrors on certain parts, witch looked great, you can see yourself, but only bits, some parts still missing. something i want to further because of it simplicity..so if that goes pare shaped too i wont feel so bad :P

only problem now is,i left with these pipes cut at 45...whitch made me think of bankys trafic cones,so i had a mess around with that too, nothing serious come from it,yet.

the parascope

i managed to get my hands on some pipe to make the parascope with, cutting each end at 45 degree angle, now getting the actual frame together was easy...but fitting the mirrors was SUCH a nightmare. everytime i got one in place the other would fall...and this happened for days...so i eventualy walked away from using pipes for the parascope, and im going to make it out or a carton instead.

im keeping the pipes for another idea tho

first ideas continued

hanging II
i realised after some rough work, that i should confine myself to just flat surfaces like card or assatate...but to try other matierials too,so i got some wire and tryed to replicate the idea.
afte working with heavy dudty wire i had to chage to a lighter gauge, witch made working sith it aso much more fun, regardless of how many time i cut myself doing it :P it was still better than the heavy gauge witch was like working with barbed wire !
going back to the idea of doing this with assatate...its easy enough to paint card, witch in the long run could be the better idea...but what abou assatate, painting it defeats the purpose.so i need to find a way to stain it.
i also thought that having then flat against a wall is rubbish, but hanging free might disturb what i want them to do,so im gona make a three sided black box

looking ball II
i thought about the sphere and how to make it,and realised i havent a clue how to welled sheets,or bend them...do i decided maybe a hexagon made or fiberboards, plus wood is more acesable.
and in stead of mirrors i was thinking lights inside each pole so when you lookin in one pole (the only one without light) you see a mix of lights, witch made me thing to put mirrors inside the box to reflect all the light...but i dismissed the idea pretty quick.

first ideas

hangging-
so,coming from the thought proces of "making people lok at what isnt their,i came up with a pretty simple idead...sheets of different sizes all hanging in a row. each sheet had a square or two cut out of it,so that the viewer has to look through one square to see the next,ie- making the viewer look a "negative space"

the looking ball
another of my bright ideas was to build lots of parascopes (those submarine things) and have them all sticking out of a huge ball (or box) so then when you look into one parascope, you see out another, whitch messes with peoples perspective.
i was thinking of making the huge ball out of sheet metal..then realised, that would be pretty dificult to come by...so maybe just a box made of mdf board.

the begining

Negative Space :getting people to look at what isnt their, given the project title "to sence my space" i came up with a few ideas, getting people to look at what isnt their.
im going about doing this with a few different ideas, whitch i am still smoothing out.

basicly,i want to control the view point...i want to know what the viewer is going to be looking at
