i took down all my art hanging in the hall, one because i was sick of looking at it,and two it was a fire hazard. but im glad in a way its down because now i start a fresh.
i took a few pictures of the remnants left in the hall.

looking on art.sy
i was flicking throught art.sy and obviously you not gona like everything you see..but those moments when something strikes you, like the second you see it you love it.. wel Anthony Gormley's staues made from squares struck me.
this one espetialy because of the holes and empty space left in the figure.

i think that last one is amazing, you can see the emotion in the way the figure is bent..like they just got the worst news ever, realised something,in pain almost
another thing i found while looking throught the minamilist sculpture was, Piotr Uklanski..a new york and warsaw based artist..who uses everything from photography and film to instalations and preformance..highly influesnced by polotics and war...the reason i was drawn to the fist was because to see the red and white in the background..you look throught the fist..again looking through one space to see another.

how music helps me. ALOT.
now this hasnt exactly got much to do with my project..but its a peice of music that i find to be art..not just because i like it..but because of everything around it.
my all time favorate piece of music is Dopsmoker (formerly jerusalm) by a phenomonal band call Sleep. ( i like it so much i got it tattooed on my ribs afew years ago)
the reason i like this song/album so much is simple..EVERYtime i put it on..i listen the whole way through..now the album is one song 63m:31s long...and i never get sick of it..the song is big..heavy (not in a scream your lungs out whitechapple way, more a physicly heavy) and it fills space, aural space...so heres a link to the best album of all time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24pOo5htg9E
also, the artist who does all of Sleep and High on Fire's (Matt pike's<guitar>other band) album covers and posters is Arik Ropper..he does some amazing things with ink and water colour
http://www.arikroper.com/
ps. if anyones interested in learning about this phenom of music and its history (whitch there is alot of) heres a link that has a section on Sleep

and hers the full documentery

it all comes together
I got my mobile made from wooden pegs, thread wire ,wood and sellotape hung up...and something occured to me...the way I have the four hanging "sculptures" hung ,ie. they all hang in a row. You can see through each of them by looking through another. For example if i look from the edge of the sheets, I can see past through the boxes, through the mobile all the way to the painted card board..i find this really interesting because that was the driving idea being each part..being able too see through to see what's at the end. But now all four works have become one. COOL!
all four works becoming one (with the new edition of bigger boxes)

something i found interesting
i found the space left in the wooden pegs intersting,i lay them out before i peged em up..and lined them up.
totem pole inspired boxes
i was making these totem poles out of old miller and bud boxes that had been lying around..i got an idea from the space left by the eyes and mouths i had cut out with my trusty spoon.
it reminded me of the sheets i hung in the all..
i decided to combine the two, and hang boxes with holes cut out for people to look through
wooden pegs hung
since i have dicided what im doing(or at least i think i do) im going to fill the hall with suspended stuff for people to interact with.
im going to hang little panels on string like a wind chime. inspired by Nick Savvas work.
i got a mobile built for me,so i could hang the threaded pegs off it.
then i got thick wire and wraped it around the part where the wood crosses over and hung it with the rest in the hall

another really great artist
Nick savvas has done so rele cool instalation stuff, ive been lookin through is tumbler http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/nike+savvas
but the one that sticks out most to me is the bouncy balls

the reason i chose these images,is because (again) of the viewers interaction with the work.

now that ive sort of found some sort of direction
so now that i sort of know where im going with this project..its easyer for me to find art thats is related to my own..for example Damian Ortega does alot of suspended art .

i chose these three images because it shows audience interaction, whitch is exactly what i am trying to do

similar
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJGFRppTa3M&feature=player_embedded
i found this video on http://www.thisiscolossal.com/ a sight that has some really great instalation stuff on it...
i put this video up because its similar to the work im doig (oviously this is on a muuuuuch bigger scale) its not exactly about whats been suspended,rather..what the suspended item/art does.
in ths case, its giving the illusion of bouncing tenis balls..im my case,i am disrupting space people walk in,making the suspended item become intrusive almost to the viewer/audience.

cloths in the hall
so i hung all the sewn rags ( i will never sew again...its horrible..stabbed myself so many times) out in the hall near enough to my cardboard.
i got another idea while i was hanging the rags...
i had been making a totem pole made from cardboard boxes...i thought if i could combine the idea of things getting in peoples space and the totem pole..i could be interesting. so im gona get on making a hanging totem pole or two. and hang them somewhere that really is in the way
i got another idea while i was hanging the rags...

sewing isnt that hard
so i have started making sheets made from old rags. the idea at the moments to do the same as the hanging boards.or to make a sphere out of it. not sure how that could work. wire maybe
i made four different size sheets by sewing small rags together. i have hung them in the same corridors as the hanging cardboards with squares cut out...my plan is to make enough fabric sheets, hang them all in the same area. the reason being is then people have to interact with the space in between the fabrics

a harsh realisation that lead to a great idea
i had hit a wall...and i coundnt for the life of me figure out why...then i realised ...i had been doing those drawings and forcing meaning into them...yes they are great and look better than i even imagained...but really they had nothing to do with my project. SO,i went back to my origional ideas, and tryed to figure out how to make them progress. so i looked at the hanging sheets.
so after a a while of thinking and problem solving,i decided i would make pretty much a replica of the small moddle BUT, up the scalle because ive leared thet size makes such a big difference.
i hung the sheets in the studio with tape and wire. but i wasnt happt with how they looked,so i took them down (witch was a nightmare because they where a pain in the hole to get up in the first place) and painted them so the would stick out from each other.
i have now moved them out into the hallways so that people have to walk past and interfear with them. i hung them using only wire this time, its sturdyer.
i want to maybe try other materials and hang different groups of them all over the college
