Contextual ( im too pennyless to pay for print outs)

because i am to broke to pay for print outs,i have decided to transfer all my contextual notebook work into this post,easy to acses and easy to update,and best of al,FREE :)
I will start from the first page of my contextual.


i put this first peice by Jacob Kassay,which is untitled. its made from fabric.

i have chose to add this because it remind me of the sheets i made witht he squares cut out,the colourfullones out in the hall. i like how you can see the dullness of the wall in the background and the dark lifeless floor behind the negative box. which is simalar to the idea i had,look through one part to see another.

Banksy. trafic cones cut at angles.
after the idea of my perascope feel apart,i was left with loads of mirror fragments and piping-iwanted to use the pipe for something. now i am by no means banksys biggest fan,but the pipe cut at 45 degree angles reminded me of banksys cones,so i made a small duplicate of it out fot he pipe i had left.

Arnish Kapour.
like i said about the mirror frag,ents being left over,i ended up working with mirror for a little while. like these two works,and the two works by Kassay (at the botom of this paragraph)the both need interaction and participation for them do work. witch is something i was and still am trying to achive.

Jacob Kassay.

silver paintings.

he had a whole gallery full of these paintings that showed a milly,cloudy reflection of the viewer.

 

Lucio Fontana. cutting into canvas. something mr fontana did alot. he has a series of canvases that he has slashed or stabbed. something i did with a knife painted white,i stabed into a black canvas.
again because looking through the hole - creating a negative space -

David Shrigly.

now david shrigly has so many drawings that i like,it was hard to choose just a few.

i was working on putting loads of small squares with doodles and drawings and cartoons on them together into one big drawing made from lots of small drawings,so you wouldnty be looking at them individualy but as one big peice. the reason shrigly was so great to me was because it was while i was looking at his work i realised that once you a text to and image or drawing,its changes how you look at it 100%.

Michael Gordon Peterson (beter know as chralie bronson)

mr bronson, a man locked up all his life (and he "never even killed anyone" ) he adds quotes to his mental drawings,making that little bit more strange. his work,in my opinion,is amazing. hes doing a phenomonla job of getting how he feels across,showing us a TINY snipet of what his life is like and what goes on in his head.

 

 

 Damian Ortega .

i like the work ortega does when he suspends things,it preminds me of the work i had up in the hall,the pegs and sheets and boxes. which where all about human interaction,like the mirros,they wouldnt work if they had nowone to walk through it or participate with it.

 

 

Nick Savvas .

simalar to orteaga,savvas suspends coloured balls,whitch would be nothing if it wasnt for the viewers interaction with the work.

 

Ana Soler.

ana soler took the idea of suspending works for the viewer to feel part of to a whole new levle,she hung close to 15'00 tenis balls in the gallery/museam to make it look like these balls where bouncing around the place,this would obviously cause obstructions so the audience is almost forced to interact with this instalation.

 Anthony Gormely.
 i really like Goremlys statues that he made from cubes,but the first one in paticular,with the holes. the idea of being able to see through. something that ties into the work(s) ive been making.

Piotr Uklanski.

The reason i was drawn to this fist was because to see the red and white in the background..you look throught the fist..again looking through one space to see another. this sculpture is realy power full,the fist,maybe a symbol for power? violence? and the red,dripping,maybe blood?

Zhu Jinshi.

the reason this reminds me of my own curent work,id because of the interaction the view may have with it..also what its made from:Xuan paper, bamboo, cotton thread...mostly soft things,like mine made from carpet and silky fabric. also its size: 350 × 600 × 1500 cm...again proving that size makes such a differance. this is in relation to the idea i had about making a long coridor for the audience to walk through (now due to funds i have been more resoursfull and used trees.{i may also make a small frame and make the same basic idea,just not as long})

 filament ii is something that struck me..its suspended and requires interaction...sound familiar?

 

Christo Yavacheff .

at the gates.

seeing this made me so happy.
i was recomended i look this up after i hung my sheets out in the trees.
i love it,simply becuse it looks so simalar to mine,the wind blowint the sheets.
although Christo Yavacheff had a more clever aproach,having the sheets suspesnded in a way the the wind can moe them,but not to the point where they are all over the place like mine. im going to have to put a weight on mine to keep them still

im poor,so now to revamp my curent work.

so buying 40 meters of wood isn't as cheap as it sounds.
so i have decided to use something else, using the same basic idea.
to begin with,im going to use the trees outside the front of college as a frame.

ive tied wire to branches connecting a pair of trees, six times.

i have stapled lengths of wood to both bottoms of each of the six sheets. my plan is to hand the sheets doubled over on the wires and somehow get the pieces of wood to stay together,so that even if the wind is going 90,they wont fly away.
i want to film the sheets in the wind from loads of different angles,then clip them together..make it all ambient looking..play some creepy atmospheric music too

thing people love/hate to touch

going with the idea of people interacting by means of touch, I thought of something interesting...making things people wouldn't normally touch, but made from things people usually like to touch.

for example, I made a jellyfish out of cardboard and soft wool strings.
again going back to suspending my work

 

 

second mini version

once I had my wooden frame built up,i made up a small,to scale,model of the corridor I want to make. I cud the carpet after marking it with a marker,and stuck the fabric and carpet on with thumb tacs
