Artist statement for curent body of work

I became interested in reducing back my work. I am drawn to wood as material and as an inspiration to create.

Experimenting with different hardwoods, I have been exploring ways I can highlight the things I find appealing and beautiful about wood – wood grain, colour, all the various textures and to a certain extent smell.

I am working totally intuitively, letting the tools and process dictate the outcome of the work.

I want to seek out a way for man-made and organic materials to complement each other and fit together in natural harmony.
