so i finally got printing

after a missing most of the first week due to being sick,i got myself into the print workshops and got me head down.
did a few dry point, which i added mono print too. im now currently making some lino prints,i made up six to give room for error.
(this is the first time i haven't photographed every step of the process because most people know how prints are made, its not like unique sculptures where the artist figures out there own way of making,in print, your following a set of rules almost.)

here are some photos of the print i made.

hammering man and Frankfurt skyline (drypoint &momo)

drypoint (und wie du wieder aussihst)

both this and the next where accidents, newsprint paper that stuck to the wet lino print

need a mirror for this un

totally unrelated to everything.

just thought this was a cool poem. Henry Rollins is cool.Poems are cool. they way the text follows the script is cool. weight lifting is cool...everything is cool eh?

elective 3. print.

we have been asked to create some prints based on urban enviorment.
at first i anted to combine some photos i had taken in frankfurt (i chose franfurst because thats where i was born i i think its a beautiful city with an amazing skyline) i was going to have the 21meter tall hammering man walking through the city with a lamp head as the sun to indicate the idea that citys and the people in them get used to unnatural light rather than the sun..this idea quickly dwindled after my first proof print, there was too much going on.

so i went back to the drawing board, and decided i would simple make a print of the skyline, with a few made up buildings too,i shall include the hammering man on the outskirts and will have some cranes in the forground. i alos decided i dont want a square print,i want it to be a long (horiziontal) print,to enhance the way skylines look.

i was very aprehensive towards the whole thing,up until right now,im actualy kind of exited to get restarted now.

baseball bat shtyle

so. i hear baseball bats are stronger than fists. they also dont result in swollen knuckles.

it also reinforces the violent act making a soft looking end result.

side project. nothing to do with college work

got a lava lamp the other day. wasted a good few hours looking into in...then i had an idea. stop motion lava lamp. groooovey maaan!

tiny by-product

after the bag i noticed that paint had splashed into the window. made a wee video. for the craic.

simply a nice photo

boxing bag ii (green and red edition)

so,made another one. but this time i did a few things different. instead of just using black to contrast against the white. i used green on one hand and red on the other to contrast each other.
i also warped my hands in old rags and short lengths of fabric instead of using clingfilm. (no matter tho my hands are still killing me)
i have also come to the conclusion that doing fifteen three minute rounds is just not realistic. that's a pro level, plus my DIY bag is just mud in coal bags warped in old carpet,i haven't got gloves and its cold outside  so my hands freeze up after about 5/6 minutes.

i don't know if its better with or without the music. i had originally a fast passed song, but then thought something more gentle and slightly ambient might be better, again,as a contrast between the violent act i am doing against the soft music.

but just in case you wanted to see violent acts preformed to daycent angry choons, here is some ZEKE.
(it really does make a difference)

boxing bag. continued

the boxing bag. this turned out EXCELLENTLY.  far exceeded my expectations.
its looks absolutely  gehto-fabulous hanging up outside my window. at the moment i have made once length of marked carpet. in black. the marks look like they have been softly rubbed onto the carpet,or gently brushed on. but no in reality the where violently battered on with fists covered in black. but no one will know this unless they see the video.

I'm going to maker a few more, but maybe different colors, perhaps green and red together, they are two colors i always thought went nicely together. especially a dark green and a lighter red.
instead of acrylic mixed with water,i might get poster paint,or maybe large buckets from HomeBase(as long as they don't explode my wallet. it is almost rag week after all :P).

another thing i was thinking about was the time, the first one i made was about 8 minuted of boxing, but if i where to do fifteen rounds of three minutes each. with a minute break between every bought,it could then become much more difficult. it would change the whole project,to a endurance test. i would move the camera before every "round". in the end id then have a video with 15 different angles. and a little over 45 minutes of raw footage to work with.
