re-imagining an object (Thursday project)

given the task to think of choose an object, and make a finished piece with it.
I chose a log. I decided to slice it up and use the slices to create a new thing.
artifact: An object produced or shaped by human craft, especially a tool, weapon, or ornament of archaeological or historical interest.

from this drawing i began to think about creating an artifact cover in made up symbols

stained with coffee

wiped with damp cloth and waxed to seal in color

(February 18th)

after debating with myself weather or not keeping on with this idea was worth while. i stepped away for a while, and made a large scale charcoal drawing or an angle. a self portrait. this drawing took a few hours of uninterrupted flow. a quite a mediative time.
by sanding down a burnt piece wood,i used the sawdust to make the drawing.
i felt like this piece of wood, now soft and less messy to the touch was an actual artefact. Not just a thing I've made for the sake of having something i could call an artifact.
so i have decided to switch to this by product of my intuitive drawing made in the flow state as my object. (see blog post "charcoal angle")
