similar

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJGFRppTa3M&feature=player_embedded

i found this video on http://www.thisiscolossal.com/ a sight that has some really great instalation stuff on it...

i put this video up because its similar to the work im doig (oviously this is on a muuuuuch bigger scale) its not exactly about whats been suspended,rather..what the suspended item/art does.

in ths case, its giving the illusion of bouncing tenis balls..im my case,i am disrupting space people walk in,making the suspended item become intrusive almost to the viewer/audience.

cloths in the hall

so i hung all the sewn rags ( i will never sew again...its horrible..stabbed myself so many times) out in the hall near enough to my cardboard.

i got another idea while i was hanging the rags...

i had been making a totem pole made from cardboard boxes...i thought if i could combine the idea of things getting in peoples space and the totem pole..i could be interesting. so im gona get on making a hanging totem pole or two. and hang them somewhere that really is in the way

sewing isnt that hard

so i have started making sheets made from old rags. the idea at the moments to do the same as the hanging boards.or to make a sphere out of it. not sure how that could work. wire maybe

i made four different size sheets by sewing small rags together. i have hung them in the same corridors as the hanging cardboards with squares cut out...my plan is to make enough fabric sheets, hang them all in the same area. the reason being is then people have to interact with the space in between the fabrics

a harsh realisation that lead to a great idea

i had hit a wall...and i coundnt for the life of me figure out why...then i realised ...i had been doing those drawings and forcing meaning into them...yes they are great and look better than i even imagained...but really they had nothing to do with my project. SO,i went back to my origional ideas, and tryed to figure out how to make them progress. so i looked at the hanging sheets.

so after a a while of thinking and problem solving,i decided i would make pretty much a replica of the small moddle BUT, up the scalle because ive leared thet size makes such a big difference.

i hung the sheets in the studio with tape and wire. but i wasnt happt with how they looked,so i took them down (witch was a nightmare because they where a pain in the hole to get up in the first place) and painted them so the would stick out from each other.

i have now moved them out into the hallways so that people have to walk past and interfear with them. i hung them using only wire this time, its sturdyer.

i want to maybe try other materials and hang different groups of them all over the college

big trippy board or creepy and disturbing yet fun and happy picture that look good and psychedelic

ive been working on changing people perception of what they are looking at...so i was doddling away on day and something sudenly made sence to me..when i first started doodling on said page,i had a few skulls, some moterbikes and pig or two...but it all looked quite bare...but towards the end whn i was running out of room, everthing was brought together, and made it one big doodle as aposed to loads of small ones...so ive started to put together a board of little drawings, that waould,in want of a better word, look crap by them selfs...but will look fantastic if they are all stuck next to each other on a huge board...i mean like 100 drawings...i was thinking of even getting everyone to do a self portrait of themselfs in the year, and add that too it along with all the rest of my own drawings.so basicly,my audience wont look at the drawings as individual drawings, but as one large darwing in itself.

mr "I have two faces"

I also learned (from david shrigly) that text can make a huge difference...things can go from serious to funny in 2 seconds.

composition

i went to a seminar on composition..it helped me figure a few things out...
you have to give your audience something that fits, like music or somethings that goes well together...things need to have a relationship and be relevent to each other.
the concious act of putting things together ie. where you place the work in relation to size, how close/far it is from the border/frame...BUT you may sometimes choose to MAKE things look bigger , elonggated ot put of place to suit what it is your doing, witch goes back to it being relevent.

FILL YOUR SPACE.
for example:
whats the point in drawing an apple floating in space, either draw it bigger,or give it a surface a background.

size hugely matters, you could look a a life size sculpture of a cockroach...but would it not have 10 times more impact is it was the size of a civic?

frantic thinking 2

before i begin this post,i thought id put this ides in along with it :P I built a little trypitc with mirrors on each pannle, lets you see yourself from all angles when you hold it up to yourself.

do something similar to those canveses with the holes stabed in,or the blobs on...but video the proces..becase the ide is so simple..i could make bucket loads of them.
