mini versions
before i went into making something huge like i want too..i built a few small moddles,to scale (instead of 2 and a half meters, its 25cm for example)
so first i made a VERY rough model frame from card and tape, I then leaned the carpet up against it to see f it was going the way i want it to go.
i then went to the store room with a drawing and measurements and got a wooden model frame made up.

things leading back to the start
i realised that my entire idea developed from wanting the hanging sheets to have space between them, its almost like im building a nice frame for a cool painting, but ,instead of a frame im building a corridor and instead of a painting its silk sheets.

big,suspended,soft
i was looking on art.sy and found something that reminded me of what i was in the proces of making.

the reason this reminds me of my own curent work,id because of the interaction the view may have with it..also what its made from:Xuan paper, bamboo, cotton thread...mostly soft things, like mine made from carpet and silky fabric. also its size: 350 × 600 × 1500 cm...again proving that size makes such a differance

mesurements can be dificult
so after changing the mesurments a whole bunch of times,i realised i have no clue how to estimate. first.things where way too short, then things where too far apart- so now i want ti do it properly and figure out how to build this fram to exact right size.
i decided to make a small moddle before going straight to the big full sized frame,so as to get the mesurments right. while I as measuring I also noticed that while I had my carpet layed out a lot of people would not walk over while it was layed out, as if they where trating it like a work I was creating.
I have also been looking at joseph beuys felt room and wolfgang laibs wax room.

got my materials
i bought sheets of fabric in Guineys,2 meters long.
i also went to carpet world the next day and asked for cheap left over scrap carpets for cheap,i was given shit tones for not but a fiver.
i started sketching once i got home after i got my carpets (well,i actualy got home and built a fortt with the carpets, then sketched inside it),and decided that using the carpets as the sheets to hang would be wasting materials that have alot more potential.
Once i got my carpet into college,i tryed to figure out how i would use them.
the idea that i got hit me out of nowhere, i was looking at pictures of the hanging sheets, and i noticed something i never noticed before...the hallway that they where in. i decided if i could make a box big enough for people to walk through, almost like a room or a coridoor and line the walls with carpet then place the hangging sheets-now made from fabric from Guineys-inside it,THAT would make people interact and interfear with it 100% =]

after 6 days
after being sort of stuck and lost for a few days,i slowly came too.
i had a few ideas about where i was going to go next.
1. hang an outfit for people to step into. like, a zip up hoodie,or a cut t-shirt,a pair of big baggy pants that people can clibm into without removing ther cloths, gloves, and whatever else..but all suspended so that whoever so wishes to put the out fit on,would then be confined to where the outfit hangs.
2.i really want to get my hands on some rug or carpet..like a lot of it.and remake the hangging sheets but bigger and spaced apart so people can walk inbetewwn them. why rug or carpet? they feel nicer. they give a sence of warmth, why should negative space sace cold and not warm??
3. photography. i havent used my camera, other than recording my work, as a tool to make work with, and i really like photography. i recently have seen alot of photographs of one image, but its ben cut into a few sections, put back together a little off center, but looks just as good.
a good example of someone doing this (and alot of other things) well is Marcos Chaves.
